In every salesperson, sales manager or just a business owner’s life comes a time when you must migrate. Maybe it’s because you are switching between CRMs, or maybe you finally decided that it is the right moment to use a CRM in your business.
Either way – importing data might cause some headaches. The goal of this “How to” is to help you import your leads from Excel to PipeDrive. I’ve done these dozens (if not hundreds!) of times for various campaigns in my businesses so I have the whole thing memorized.
Integrate Excel with PipeDrive
Before you start, I recommend cleaning up your Excel file and adding the titles of the columns that will be easy to understand and straightforward. This will help you later on. Your Excel should look a little something like this:
Of course, If you have more columns or yours have different names – don’t worry.
The next step is to navigate to the three dots icon in your menu on the left and choose “Import data” after clicking:
Then you choose “From a spreadsheet” at the bottom:
Then you either choose “Upload a file” or you just drag & drop from your folder:
On the following screen, you need to match the fields from your Excel sheet (on the left) with the fields that you already have in your PipeDrive. IMPORTANT: on the right you can see different “sections” of PipeDrive visible (Organization, Deal, Person etc.). You need to carefully choose which ones do you want to match with your Excel sheet. Sometimes PipeDrive will automatically (and mistakenly) match the fields of a person with the ones of an organization, and so on. Make sure to double or even triple-check here before you click “Next” in the down-right corner:
On the next screen you will have the opportunity to check If everything is according to your expectations, If it is, then click “Start the import”. Depending on the amount of data, this may take a couple of minutes:
